FAQ

What is the cost of your services?

An onsite property assessment visit is $300 and includes a detailed plan specific to the needs of the customer and the potential of the property. This includes a planting plan, how to compost, how to harvest and store water along with basic troubleshooting. This also includes three months of follow up via text or email. I’m happy to take one to two hours of walking your land, listening to your desires and helping you craft a plan. A large part of my contribution is to help you avoid errors that are costly and time consuming to correct.

For $800, a customer receives all of the above as well as one full calendar year of follow up consulting.

I also keep an eye out for ways to help my customers do these tasks less expensively, especially if I find sources of free or inexpensive compost, wood chips, building materials or other materials that can be recycled into a small homestead.

For onsite building, the customer will be responsible for purchase of materials or we can work out a reimbursement plan. We can also arrange to help transport some materials.

What is this city homesteading thing anyhow?

Homesteading refers to many things. For myself it means growing as much of my own food as I can and cultivating my property to be a source of production, beauty and contentment. Homesteading isn’t a lifestyle that’s only meant for rural living. In fact, it’s easier to intensively cultivate less land than it is to manage a large acreage. Many people believe they need several acres to homestead. I can demonstrate how that’s not the case at all. No matter the amount of land you have to work with, I can help you craft a plan that increases your personal resilience.
